Background
The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is a statutory professional regulatory body mandated by the EIZ Act No. 17 of 2010 to promote and regulate the engineering profession in Zambia. It is a membership-based corporate body established under Section 3 of the Engineering Institution of Zambia Act No. 17 of 2010.
Job Profile
The IT Support and Software Development Intern will play a key role in assisting with both technical support and software development tasks within the institution. The intern will provide first-level IT support to end users, assist with troubleshooting issues related to hardware, software, and network systems, and contribute to software development projects. They will also collaborate with the IT teams to help maintain critical business systems, such as the Database Management Information System (DMIS), while gaining valuable experience in programming, web development, and business intelligence tools.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line support to employees, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Collaborate with the IT team to maintain the (DMIS), ensuring smooth system operations.
- Assist in developing, testing, and maintaining internal software applications.
- Participate in the development and implementation of IT projects.
- Help enforce compliance with IT policies and procedures, including password management, user access control, and data protection measures.
- Support the analysis and visualization of data using business intelligence tools like Power BI and Tableau.
- Assist in the documentation of IT processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of IT fundamentals and operating systems.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, database systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
- knowledge of programming languages is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Internship Details:
- Start Date: 2nd December 2024
- Duration: [3 months, possible extension to 6 months]
- Location: Lusaka Main Headquarters
